Credit Card Transaction in July IDR18 Trillion

JAKARTA: Value of credit card transaction during July 2012 reaches IDR18.38 trillion by volume 19.61 million transactions, which is the highest monthly transaction since the beginning of this year.

Based on the data published by Bank Indonesia, the value for the credit card transaction for July 2012 grew 16.26% compared to the same month last year IDR16.27 trillion.

Meanwhile, the transaction value increased 8.88% from IDR16.88 trillion in the previous month. Value of credit card transaction during June 2012 declined 3.59% compared to May 2012 IDR17.51 trillion.

The credit card owner using a card payment for cash transaction, with a nominal reached IDR384.93 billion during July 2012, while shopping transaction reached IDR17.99 trillion.

The total volume of credit card during the period January-July 2012 is recorde 128.41 million transactions with a value IDR116 trillion.

General Manager Credit Cards PT Bank Central Asia Tbk Santoso said that the value of credit card transaction issued by the company is experiencing an increase in July compared to the previous month.

Even credit card transaction is also higher in July than in August.

During July 2012, BCA credit card transaction reached IDR3 trillion, increase 13.2% from IDR2.65 trillion in June

Meanwhile, credit card transaction in August worth IDr2.8 trillion or slightly down 6.6% compared to previous month.

He said the surge of BCA credit card transaction during July is affected by fasting month.

When compared to the fasting month and Lebaran last year, the transaction growth about 15%-20%.

He added other factors that support the growth of credit card transaction is increasing buying power and economic ability.
