インドネシアの小売に関するニュースをもうひとつ引用します。

インドネシアの銀行が６月に発行したクレジットカードは、２０１２年６月末には１５００万枚を超え、前年同月比で７.３１％増加したとのことです。経済成長とともに、クレジットカードのユーザーも増加している模様です。

この記事で書いたように、インドネシアではインターネットショッピングも急速に発展していますが、まだ銀行決済が大半で、決済がネックとなっているようです。

しかし、クレジットカードの普及に伴い、インターネットショッピングも急速に普及し、また、カードの普及はリアル店舗の売上にも貢献することになるでしょう。

CREDIT CARDS Exceeds 15.28 Million Units as of June 2012
JAKARTA: The number of credit cards issued by the banking industry exceeded 15.28 million cards as of the end of June 2012, increased 7.31% compared to last year of 14.24 million cards.


Based on data from Bank Indonesia, there were 219,916 new cards issued during June compared with previous month which recorded 15.06 million units. The total credit card volume during January-June period recorded 108.8 million transactions worth IDR97.74 trillion.

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Business Card Division General Manager Dodit W. Probojakti said the growth in credit card number up to June was the trends that occurred in recent years, the single digit.

"That growth didn’t not occur evenly between banks. There were banks that able to grow double digits, but also there were some with smaller growth," he told Bisnis on Friday (8/3/2012).

According to him, Indonesia's economic growth rate of 6% encouraged people to use credit cards as a payment instrument, replacing cash.

"Because not all of the credit card used for the debt, some used it to pay routine bills that help the cash flow from affiliated companies. This is also consistent in the establishment of less cash society," he said.

As for BNI, he explained, the number of credit cards issued has reached 1.9 million in June, up 28% compared with the previous year. "The growth of BNI credit cards are about three times than those in the industry," he explained. (T07/TW)
